- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup white sugar

- 2 tablespoon melted butter
- ½ cup milk

- 1 quart oil for frying

- 7 cups vegetable oil for frying
- 4 tablespoons for shortening
- ½ cup white sugar

- 1 cup Herman sourdough starter
- ½ cup milk

4. Yeast Donuts
Ingredients
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
- ¾ cup milk
- ¾ cup white sugar
- ¼ cup butter
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 3 eggs
- 2 quart oil for deep frying
- 1 cup confectioner’s sugar for dusting

- In a large mixing bowl combine 1¾ cups flour with yeast. In a sauce pan heat milk, sugar, butter and salt until butter melts
- Stir milk mixture into flour along with eggs, beating with a heavy duty electric mixture on low for 30 seconds just to combine
- Add the remaining flour and stir to make a firm but pliable dough
- Knead dough on lightly floured work surface until smooth
- Transfer to an oiled bowl, cover and let the dough rise until it doubles in size for about 1 hour
- Turn dough out onto floured surface punch out and roll out to ½ inch thickness
- Cut out doughnuts using a donut cutter and transfer into baking sheets, cover and live to rise for about 45 minutes
- Heat oil in a deep fryer to 360 degrees, fry donuts in batches until golden all over

- 3 cups all purpose oil
- ¾ cup white sugar

- Prepare filling by whisking together the pudding mix with milk
- In a separate bowl mix beat on high with an electric mixer the heavy cream with powdered sugar, refrigerate until ready to use
- Heat oil until hot
- Separate the donuts and fry until golden brown
- Add cream, milk, butter, vanilla and corn syrup to a medium sauce pan, heat on medium until butter is melted
- To assemble, spoon filling into a pastry bag with tip
- Press tip into side of donut and squeeze until donut appears full
